Test version for MH 1.0 now available

March 31, 2009

The test version of MIDItar Hero 1.0 is now available on the Download page.
If you want to volunteer to test the new version of MH, please leave a comment on this post or send an email to miditarhero@gmail.com with the subject “MIDItar Hero testing” and include your name and email.
I’ll email you back with the password to download both the MIDItar Hero v1.0b.mxf file and the MIDItar Hero Help.pdf file. Make sure you read the Help file first – it’s very detailed and has full instructions on new options and controls.
By volunteering to test MH, you also agree to fill out the brief survey included in the email. It’ll help me to improve MH in the future.
Thanks,
– Brian

Way too many controllers.

March 27, 2009

Thanks to DJJ3ph, I now have the values for the Xbox 360 GHWT Drums and Guitar on Windows. Velocity sensitivity testing for that is happening soon.

However, there are still a number of controllers that MH doesn’t automatically support. You can use ANY controller you want using the Custom Controller configuration, but I’d like to add pre-configured support for every guitar and drum controller out there.

Here’s a list of all of the different controller possibilites, and whether MH has presets for them yet or not.
√ means fully support, — means partial support, X means no support

Windows:
360 GH Guitar √
360 RB Guitar √
360 GH Drums √
360 RB Drums — (need velocity)
PS3 GH Guitar √
PS3 RB Guitar √
PS3 GH Drums X

Wii GH Guitar X

Mac:

If you have a controller that isn’t supported yet, please email me or IM me and I’ll let you know how you can help me add support for your controller.

Things left to do for MIDItar Hero 1.0:

March 10, 2009

– Rewrite the documentation to be included as a .PDF (<– 1/2 done)
– New logo!
– Test out Sample Mode (playback of audio samples, applying effects to samples) (<– working!)
– Small cleanup of user interface (<– almost there)
– Velocity sensitivity on RB + GH:WT drums
– Add GH:WT drums as controller

Would anybody be interested in testing the new version of MH before I release it? I’m looking for people who are somewhat familiar with MH and are willing to provide feedback as to what works well and what doesn’t, as well as offer suggestions about features or options they would like to see added in the future.
Send me a message on AIM (bwestplaysdrums) or email me (bwestplaysdrums@gmail.com) if you would like to test the new version. Also include your name or your regular internet handle that you would like to be credited as.

Attention: Anyone with a RB2/GH:WT kit

March 7, 2009

I’ve had a number of requests to add velocity support for both of these drum kits. Unfortunately, I don’t own either of them. Also, I know people have got the GH:WT kit working with MH with the Custom Controller option, but I’d like to add it as one of the preset options. Would anybody with either of these kits and the means to connect them to their computer be willing to help me out with finding the values? Contact me through my AIM or email. Thank you.
